BABY DROP reflects the paradox of prenatal rituals in an era of technological acceleration, in which the human body becomes an optimizable product. 3D fetal printing technology uses ultrasound to translate the unborn fetus into a 3D relief, reducing biological plasticity and transforming the body into a social construct. What once celebrated anticipation has now turned into a process of prediction.
The artwork presents a 3D-printed relief based on photographic data and digital manipulation. Rather than evoking the celebratory ritual of a Baby Shower, it functions as a memorial of an idealized, technologically predetermined form of the body that has not yet developed its own autonomy but can already be owned and engaged with.
